The Riyadh Metro has achieved a global milestone after being officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest fully driverless rail network in the world, spanning 176 kilometers—a landmark that underscores the Kingdom’s rapid progress in developing modern and sustainable urban mobility systems.
The metro forms a core part of Riyadh’s Public Transport Project, running across six fully integrated lines and 85 stations, and operating with state-of-the-art driverless technology. Its operations are managed through high-precision central control rooms, ensuring top-tier standards of safety and efficiency.
Riyadh’s public transport network—metro and buses—is shaping mobility across the city by improving traffic flow, supporting economic and urban development, and enhancing accessibility for all members of society.
This achievement reflects the commitment of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) to adopting smart, sustainable urban transport principles and building a modern infrastructure that elevates the quality of life and advances the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
