Safety ..  Saudi Arabia's Competitive Advantage

Riyadh – BETH

Saudi Arabia has ranked first among G20 countries in the 2025 Safety Index, according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators released by the General Authority for Statistics. The findings show that 97.7% of residents feel safe walking alone at night in their neighborhoods.

The index reflects a high level of perceived safety across different segments of society, including women and older adults, underscoring the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to enhance public security and quality of life in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

BETH Analysis

The index measures more than crime rates.

It measures people's sense of safety—one of the world's most important indicators of quality of life and social stability.

Saudi Arabia's top ranking among the G20 therefore extends beyond security itself.

It strengthens the Kingdom's attractiveness for investment, tourism, and global talent, as safety has become one of the key competitive factors shaping national economies.

In an increasingly competitive world, countries are no longer competing only through economic opportunities or infrastructure.

They are also competing through the confidence they provide to investors, businesses, skilled professionals, and visitors.

In this context, security is no longer merely a public service—it has become a strategic competitive advantage, adding significant economic and developmental value to Saudi Arabia's global position.
