The inaugural edition of WTM Spotlight Riyadh 2026 has opened in the Saudi capital, adding a new international platform to the Kingdom’s growing calendar of tourism events and bringing together industry leaders, investors and travel partners from Saudi Arabia and abroad.

The exhibition is being held at the Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Center from September 8 to 10, with participation from tourism destinations, hotel brands, transport and technology companies, investors and operators across the travel industry.

The event was officially opened by Saudi Tourism Authority CEO Aqeel Al-Shaibani on behalf of Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb, in the presence of government officials, chief executives and private-sector partners.

The significance of the event goes beyond tourism promotion. It is designed as a platform connecting Saudi Arabia with the world, and the world with the Saudi market, through business meetings, partnerships, knowledge exchange and exploration of new investment and tourism opportunities.

The Saudi Tourism Authority is participating through its “Saudi, Welcome to Arabia” pavilion, showcasing cultural, entertainment and coastal destinations as well as new tourism experiences, while giving Saudi private-sector companies direct access to international investors and travel-industry leaders.

The Market Is Changing

The importance of the event lies in a broader shift: Saudi Arabia is no longer only showcasing its destinations at international tourism exhibitions; it is increasingly bringing the global travel industry into its own market.

This gives local companies stronger access to international buyers and investors, while positioning Riyadh as a place where deals are made and tourism products are developed, not merely promoted.

The launch of a dedicated Riyadh edition of the WTM Spotlight series also reflects growing global interest in the Saudi market, alongside expanding investment in hospitality, aviation, entertainment and tourism technology under Vision 2030.

The new equation is becoming clear:

As Saudi Arabia’s tourism market grows, the Kingdom no longer needs only to go to the world’s markets.

The world’s markets are beginning to come to Saudi Arabia.
