Saudi Arabia’s mango and tropical fruit farming is no longer viewed as a limited seasonal agricultural activity…

It has become part of a broader transformation within the Kingdom’s agricultural and food sectors, aimed at:
diversifying production,
enhancing food security,
improving marketing efficiency,
and supporting local economies in agricultural regions.

In this context, the Cooperative Association for Mango and Tropical Fruits in Jazan continues its efforts to organize seasonal marketing operations through the establishment of more than 30 seasonal sales outlets along King Abdulaziz Road between the governorates of Sabya and Baysh, in cooperation with Jazan Municipality, as part of the current mango harvest season activities.

The Brief

Jazan annually witnesses one of the Kingdom’s largest mango and tropical fruit harvest seasons, amid significant agricultural expansion in recent years, supported by agricultural development programs, improved water-use efficiency, and modern farming technologies.

Jazan is considered Saudi Arabia’s leading mango-producing region, alongside the cultivation of:
papaya,
guava,
tropical figs,
custard apple,
and other tropical fruits,
benefiting from the region’s warm climate and fertile soil.

According to agricultural estimates, Saudi Arabia produces tens of thousands of tons of mangoes annually, alongside notable growth in the number of farms and local varieties over recent years.

Agriculture is no longer focused solely on production…

It has become increasingly connected to:
marketing,
supply chains,
packaging,
food processing,
seasonal festivals,
and agri-tourism.

Within this framework, the Cooperative Association for Mango and Tropical Fruits works to:
organize seasonal markets,
support farmers,
improve product quality,
and strengthen direct marketing opportunities,
helping reduce intermediary layers and improve farmers’ economic returns.

Seasonal sales outlets across Jazan are witnessing growing consumer demand, particularly as the mango season evolves into an economic, tourism, and cultural attraction drawing visitors from across the Kingdom.

B | بث Analysis

The story here is not simply about a seasonal fruit…

but about a transformation in the concept of agriculture within Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom is gradually moving toward:
more diversified agriculture,
higher economic value,
and linking agricultural production with tourism, marketing, and modern value chains.

What is particularly notable is that mangoes and tropical fruits have become a successful model for specialized agriculture in regions with unique climate advantages across Saudi Arabia.

Agricultural seasons are no longer viewed merely as harvest periods…

but as local economic engines supporting:
farmers,
productive families,
domestic tourism,
and related commercial activities.

At a deeper level,
Saudi Arabia appears to be rediscovering:
“the local agricultural economy,”

but with a modern spirit built around:
organization,
marketing,
quality,
partnerships,
and enhancing the competitiveness of national products.

With continued agricultural expansion and technological development,
some Saudi agricultural products may eventually evolve from local produce…
into regional and international food brands.
