Asia’s attention turns on Saturday, May 9, 2026, to the historic At-Turaif district in Diriyah, where the final draw ceremony for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 will take place, marking the official launch toward the highly anticipated continental tournament that the Kingdom will host from January 7 to February 5, 2027.

The tournament will be held in:

Riyadh,
Jeddah,
and Al Khobar,

with the participation of 24 Asian national teams, in what is expected to be one of the largest and most anticipated editions in the continent’s history.

The selection of the historic At-Turaif district to host the draw carries cultural and civilizational significance, as it stands among Saudi Arabia’s most important historical and national landmarks, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. UNESCO

Mai Al-Hallabi, Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organizing Committee for AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, stated that the draw ceremony represents “the real beginning” of the tournament journey, as preparations move into a new operational and organizational phase.

She added that Saudi Arabia is working to deliver an “exceptional and unprecedented edition” reflecting the Kingdom’s accumulated expertise in hosting major sporting events, while offering teams, fans, and media a fully integrated experience that matches the ambitions of Asian football.

The draw also holds major technical importance, as the 24 participating teams will be distributed into six groups of four teams each, according to the Asian Football Confederation ranking system, shaping the road toward the continental title.
