Construction work is progressing on the high-speed circuit in Qiddiya, the major sports and entertainment project west of Riyadh, which is expected to become one of the most distinctive racing tracks in the world.

The circuit features 21 turns surrounded by the mountains of Tuwaiq, giving it a unique natural character that combines technical challenge with striking geography.

Particular attention is focused on the “The Blade” turn, which is taking shape as one of the most iconic elements of the track. Its pillars and structural supports rise to a height equivalent to about 20 stories, making it one of the most daring and dramatic corners in global motorsport.

The Qiddiya circuit is being designed according to the highest international standards used in Formula 1 racing, while also providing an exceptional spectator experience through elevated grandstands and viewing angles that allow fans to follow large sections of the track simultaneously.

The project forms part of the development of Qiddiya City, which aims to become one of the world’s largest destinations for entertainment, sports, and culture, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the economy and expand tourism and global events.

BETH Analysis

A Track Beyond Sport

The Qiddiya circuit represents more than a motorsport facility; it reflects a broader transformation in Saudi Arabia’s sports and entertainment industry.

Building a circuit with such advanced engineering specifications highlights three major shifts:

1. Creating a Global Event Platform
The track is designed to host the world’s top motorsport championships, strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position on the global sports map.

2. Engineering the Experience
The emphasis on visual design and unique turns—such as “The Blade”—targets not only drivers but also the spectator experience, which has become a key element in modern sports.

3. The Events Economy
Investment in major sports infrastructure reflects a strategic move toward the sports and entertainment events economy, one of the fastest-growing sectors worldwide.

BETH Perspective

Once completed, the Qiddiya circuit will not simply be a new racing track. It is likely to become one of the most exciting and distinctive circuits in global motorsport, where bold engineering meets the dramatic landscape of the Tuwaiq Mountains to create a racing experience that may mark a new chapter in the history of the sport.
