With the Participation of Eight World-Ranked Players
Jeddah | BETH
Jeddah will host tomorrow, Wednesday 17 December 2025, the opening of the Next Gen ATP Finals, organized by the Saudi Tennis Federation under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport and sponsored by the Public Investment Fund. The tournament will take place at the Indoor Hall of King Abdullah Sports City and will run until 21 December.
The championship features eight of the world’s top emerging tennis players, namely:
American Learner Tien, Belgian Alexander Blockx, Croatian Dino Prizmic, Spaniard Martín Landaluce, Norwegian Nicolai Budkov Kjær, American Nishesh Basavareddy, Spaniard Rafael Jodar, and German Justin Engel, who joins the tournament as a replacement for Czech player Jakub Menšík, who withdrew due to health reasons.
The tournament is played in a round-robin group format, with players divided into two groups of four.
The Blue Group includes: Learner Tien, Martín Landaluce, Rafael Jodar, and Nicolai Budkov Kjær.
The Red Group features: Alexander Blockx, Dino Prizmic, Nishesh Basavareddy, and Justin Engel.
The top two players from each group will advance to the semifinals. The tournament offers a total prize pool of USD 2.1 million.
On this occasion, Mohammed Al-Serraj, President of the Saudi Tennis Federation, stated:
“We are proud to host this outstanding group of young tennis stars in Jeddah for the third consecutive year. This tournament reflects our commitment to bringing the world’s most prestigious tennis events to Saudi Arabia. It also aligns with our efforts to develop the sport locally and inspire emerging talents, strengthening the Kingdom’s presence on the global tennis map. We are looking forward to an exciting and highly competitive tournament.”
The previous edition witnessed intense competition and concluded with Brazilian João Fonseca claiming the title after defeating Learner Tien 3–1. Tien returns this year with high ambitions, aiming to achieve a new milestone on Saudi soil.
It is worth noting that the Next Gen ATP Finals represent the first professional tennis event ever hosted in Saudi Arabia, and are the result of a strategic partnership between the ATP Tour and the Saudi Tennis Federation. This partnership has paved the way for hosting the WTA Finals in Riyadh and for Saudi Arabia’s preparations to host a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time in early 2028.
