Global Health: Partnership with King Salman Center for Relief has contributed to strengthening services throughout Yemen
The World Health Organization confirmed that the partnership with the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action has contributed to strengthening basic health services and improving access to them in all parts of Yemen.
In a report published by the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, the organization stated that, in partnership with the Center, a $20.5 million basic health services project in Yemen was implemented, aiming to strengthen the health cluster, coordination and improve access to the minimum package of services in vulnerable and priority areas in Yemen. all over the country.
She added that through the project, the Lauder Hospital in Abyan Governorate was supported, which serves hundreds of cases daily, exceeding its operational capacity, as it receives cases from neighboring areas; Being the only hospital providing surgical care in the region.
The report included a statement by the Director of Lauder Hospital, Dr. Nabil Hussein, in which he praised the support provided by the King Salman Relief Center and the World Health Organization to the hospital, and said: "We received great support through which the hospital was equipped with medical and non-medical equipment and supplies, and this also included support for the therapeutic feeding center and medical units. Isolation for people infected with the Coronavirus, in addition to the training on high-quality and very useful care that has been provided to health workers in the hospital, and medical supplies, medicines, laboratory supplies, oxygen supplies and medical equipment have been provided to the targeted health facilities.”
The UN report also indicated that the project funded by the center included improving access to quality health services and technologies available to more than 6 million people in need, as well as ensuring the provision of fuel and potable water supplies to maintain the functions of health facilities and to provide important health care services.
According to the report, the project contributes to supporting increased access to medical care and basic health services and improving the quality of services in 19 health facilities; To benefit from 2.3 million
In addition to supporting 206 health facilities with fuel, which in turn contributed to the access to health care for hundreds of thousands of Yemenis, and 1.2 million consultations were conducted, including 74,000 consultations for the internally displaced.
With the center's support, the project also provided computed tomography and magnetic resonance angiography to targeted health facilities; To assist approximately 73,000 patients seeking medical care in these facilities each month, it has also secured the operational needs of 26 emergency operations centers across Yemen, which have a pivotal role in providing real-time information, assessing needs, receiving alerts, and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as coordinating and managing response interventions, which helps in strengthening integrated preparedness and response processes with relevant organizations.
It is noteworthy that the center cooperates with 144 partners from international and international organizations, to serve humanitarian work and help needy and affected countries and peoples around the world.
