Saudi Arabia affirms its total rejection of plans for the evacuation of Al-Quds residents
The permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, affirmed the Kingdom’s strong rejection and condemnation of the Israeli plans and evacuations of the forced displacement of the people in East Al-Quds, and the Israeli violations, usually a flagrant violation of the principles of international humanitarian law, and the relevant Security Council resolutions.
Al-Suhaibani pointed out that the Kingdom’s continuous support for the Palestinian people stems from its deep belief in the importance of the just Palestinian cause, and on the necessity of international efforts and intensification to end this long-standing conflict in order to recover their legitimate rights and establish their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
This came in the Kingdom’s speech at the emergency meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was held - remotely - today, chaired by the Republic of Niger, Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization’s Islamic Countries, to discuss the attacks carried out by occupied Israel on the occupied Arab lands, in particular. Al-Suhaibani expressed the Kingdom’s rejection and condemnation of what was issued regarding the plans and measures taken by the Israeli occupation forces aimed at evacuating those Palestinian homes in Al-Quds by force and imposing sovereignty over them, and the consequences that may result from this, condemning at the same time any unilateral measures and any Israeli violations. For the decisions of international legitimacy, and for everything that undermines the chances of resuming the peace process and undermines international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.
He reiterated the Kingdom’s affirmation of continuing to defend the cause of the Palestinian people in various regional and international forums, foremost of which is the UN Security Council, to confront the practices of the occupation authorities that threaten international peace and security and undermine efforts to enhance the stability of the region.
He said, “At a time when Muslims all over the earth are preparing to celebrate the blessed Eid Al-Fitr and complete the worship of fasting with joy and pleasure, we find that our Palestinian brothers are being attacked by the Israeli occupation forces and provocations aimed at carrying out the evictions and forced displacement against some of the people of Jerusalem, which is a flagrant violation of the principles of International humanitarian law, and UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2334, which affirms that East Al-Quds is a Palestinian land, and that the establishment of the Israeli occupation of settlements on the Palestinian territories is a flagrant violation under international law and an obstacle to achieving permanent and comprehensive peace.
In the same context, the Kingdom renewed its complete stand by the Palestinian people, their just cause, their legitimate rights, and support for all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in a way that enables the Palestinian people to establish their independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. And the “Arab Peace Initiative.”
In this regard, it called on the international community to take immediate action to compel Israel to stop these practices and violations in order to achieve justice and fairness for the Palestinian people, who have suffered greatly and are still struggling to obtain their most important legitimate rights to establish security and safety and achieve economic growth that contributes to providing them with a decent way of living and improving their conditions in the region.
