The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources revealed, through the Industrial Indicators Report, that 91 new licenses were issued to a number of industrial establishments during last February, with a capital of 857 million riyals, with a growth rate of 21% compared to the same month of the previous year 2020 AD.
The report issued by the National Center for Industrial Information indicated that about 31 factories began production during the past month, confirming that 93% of the total factories that started production were of national investment, led by the factories operating in food activities with about 8 factories, while the small factories that started production were formed. During the same period, about 52% of the total number of factories, most of which were concentrated in the city of Riyadh, with about 12 factories.
The report confirmed that the industrial sector witnessed during the same month the entry of approximately 1205 Saudi workers, while the number of expatriate workers entering the sector reached nearly 2,304 workers, and the sector also witnessed an increase in the number of industrial establishments existing so far, reaching 9,853 establishments, with an investment volume estimated at 1,115 trillion Saudi riyals. .
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources stated that the activities of the new licenses issued during the month of February 2021 constituted the largest percentage, among which were factories of food products with nearly 21 factories, followed by other non-metallic minerals products with 15 factories, while the factories operating in the activity of making transport equipment were the least in terms of the number of factories. By 0.1% of the total existing factories.
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issues, through the National Industrial Information Center, on a monthly basis, the most important indicators of industrial activity in the Kingdom, in addition to revealing the volume of new industrial investments and the volume of jobs that the sector attracts.
