The “Future of Construction” Conference kicked off today at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, held within the 35th edition of Saudi Build 2025, with the participation of leading experts and specialists in modern construction systems and building materials.

The conference began with a keynote by Dr. Khalid Al-Hajri, Vice President for Building Materials at the National Industrial Development Center, titled “The Future of Building Materials in Saudi Arabia.” He highlighted the transformation taking place in the sector, the role of localizing technologies and materials, and the importance of innovation and sustainability in strengthening industrial competitiveness — noting that the number of building materials factories has doubled over the past five years, exceeding 60 factories compared to less than 30 previously.

The specialized panel sessions discussed key pillars shaping the future of urban development in the Kingdom, including:

Saudi megaprojects reshaping the future of construction: through innovation and locally integrated materials aligned with Vision 2030.

Smart homes and buildings: and how AI-driven systems are accelerating efficiency and improving quality of life.

3D printing construction: emphasizing the need for rigorous safety standards, certification, and periodic testing to ensure quality and structural reliability.

Advanced exterior building materials: trends in façade design, development of sustainable local materials, and climate-responsive architectural integration.

The conference serves as a national platform for knowledge exchange, idea development, and co-creating innovative solutions to support Saudi Arabia’s transformation toward sustainable, intelligent, and future-ready urban development.

Saudi Build 2025 continues until Thursday, serving as a key hub reflecting the growth momentum in the construction ecosystem and expanding opportunities for commercial and industrial collaboration in one of the Kingdom’s fastest-growing sectors.
