📍 Riyadh – BETH Press
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced a landmark agreement between Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT), the Kingdom’s leading container terminal operator, and CMA CGM Group of France, one of the world’s largest shipping companies, to develop and operate the Fourth Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port with a total investment of SAR 1.7 billion and a handling capacity of 2.6 million TEUs.
The agreement was signed during the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh by Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM Group, and Amer Ali Reza, Chairman of RSGT, in the presence of Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of Mawani, and Eng. Suleiman Al-Mazroua, President of Mawani.
Mawani’s President emphasized that this strategic partnership embodies the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives by transforming Saudi ports into world-class logistics hubs, supporting connectivity, innovation, and sustainable growth across the global maritime network.
The new terminal comes as part of RSGT’s expansion plan under its 2020 concession agreement with Mawani, focusing on infrastructure enhancement, advanced cargo-handling equipment, digital transformation, and operational sustainability.
Once completed, the partnership will raise RSGT’s annual handling capacity to 8.8 million TEUs, strengthen global connectivity through CMA CGM’s vast shipping network, and enhance the Red Sea’s position as a strategic maritime hub linking Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Jeddah Islamic Port remains the largest port on the Red Sea, with 62 multi-purpose berths and a strategic location that reinforces Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the maritime and logistics sectors.
