Saudi Students Shine at the International Biology Olympiad 2025

The 36th edition of the International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2025) concluded in Manila, Philippines, with the official announcement of results for one of the world’s most prestigious international science competitions for high school students. The event, held from 20 to 27 July, brought together 308 students representing 80 countries.
🏅 A New Saudi Achievement
The Saudi national biology team earned international acclaim with a set of new honors:
🥈 1 Silver Medal
🥉 2 Bronze Medals

Abdullah H. Al-Subaie (Taif Education) – Silver Medal
Hamzah M. Baaissa (Riyadh Education) – Bronze Medal
Ziyad A. Al-Namri (Royal Commission in Yanbu) – Bronze Medal
Hassan A. Al-Bahar (Riyadh Education) – Certificate of Merit
📚 Intensive Scientific Preparation
These achievements were the result of a highly specialized training program, with each student receiving over 2,800 hours of instruction and mentoring, conducted by:
King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba)
In strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education
The program included advanced theoretical and practical sessions, scientific camps, and intensive mock exams aligned with international standards.

Since Saudi Arabia’s first participation in the International Biology Olympiad in 2022, the national team has achieved:
