Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), reaffirmed its global leadership in responsible artificial intelligence by announcing its endorsement of the OECD Recommendation on AI—the world’s first comprehensive international framework governing generative and general AI technologies.

This recognition comes as part of the Kingdom’s growing role in shaping ethical and transparent AI practices, especially following SDAIA’s launch of the AI Ethics Self-Assessment Tool via the National Data Governance Platform. The tool enables government entities, private sector organizations, and individual developers to assess their commitment to ethical principles and international standards in designing and deploying AI applications.

SDAIA emphasized that this direction aligns with the unwavering support of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to promote sound policies, raise awareness, and build trust in digital tools of the future—reflecting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

🤖 Saudi Autism Robot Honored in Geneva

Extending the Kingdom’s commitment to human-centered AI, Najran University, through its College of Medicine, received international recognition at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) held in Geneva, Switzerland. Its innovative project, “Autism Robot,” was officially nominated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as one of the top 20 global e-health initiatives.

The project aims to enhance the quality of life for children with autism spectrum disorder by using AI and interactive technologies to improve communication, emotional regulation, and self-reliance.

Project lead Dr. Hussein Al Emad described the honor as a validation of the university’s commitment to health innovation, and a motivation to expand its impact nationally and internationally.
