BETH – Geneva | July 2025

His Excellency Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—under the leadership and support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister—has launched a series of global initiatives aimed at bridging gaps in computing, data, and algorithms, with the goal of harnessing technology to serve humanity.

This came during the Kingdom’s address delivered by Al-Swaha at the 160th anniversary celebration of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, attended by heads of state, decision-makers, and leading global tech figures.

Al-Swaha noted that the world is standing at the threshold of a transformative era, driven by the unprecedented acceleration of artificial intelligence technologies, warning of widening gaps in computing capabilities, data access, and algorithm development—gaps that demand a collective and immediate international response.

He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to continuing its efforts and building global partnerships to close AI gaps and ensure inclusive digital access for all, stressing that the coming years will be pivotal in shaping the future—and that global collaboration is the only path to avoid a new digital divide between nations and societies.
