In response to recent regional tensions, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia opened its airspace to ensure the smooth flow of air traffic, mobilizing all human and material resources to accommodate a sharp increase in overflights.

1,330 flights daily on average
Over 95% growth compared to pre-crisis levels
More than 220 international carriers utilized Saudi airspace during the period
These flights were managed safely and seamlessly, underpinned by advanced technical systems and stringent security protocols aligned with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards.

🛰️ Proactive Crisis Response
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) played a pivotal role by:
Opening additional air routes to absorb high traffic
Expanding airspace capacity
Reducing flight times using advanced navigation procedures
Saudi Arabia’s airspace is equipped with one of the world’s most sophisticated aviation infrastructures, including:
20 control towers
2 regional area control centers
15 area control sectors, 10 approach control centers
Over 1,200 navigation systems
A skilled workforce of 1,900 aviation professionals, including more than 700 air traffic controllers
