Saudi Heritage Expands
10,061 Archaeological Sites Registered… and Counting

The Heritage Commission has announced the registration of 744 new archaeological sites in the National Antiquities Register, bringing the total number to 10,061. This step reflects the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirms the Commission’s commitment to documenting and protecting historical sites.
🗺️ Distribution of the Newly Registered Sites:
Riyadh: 253 sites
Medina: 167 sites
Najran: 86 sites
Asir: 64 sites
Tabuk: 72 sites
Qassim: 30 sites
Jazan: 23 sites
Eastern Province: 13 sites
Hail: 13 sites
Makkah: 11 sites
Al-Jouf: 10 sites
Northern Borders: 2 sites only
This registration is based on the royal decree issued on 9/1/1436H and the decision of the Heritage Commission’s Board of Directors to authorize the CEO with the authority to register heritage and archaeological sites.
