Lavrov: Russia does not intend to take responsibility for the migration crises caused by the West
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that his country does not intend to bear responsibility for the migration crises sparked by Western intervention in Libya, and to share its burdens.
This came in statements made by Lavrov on the sidelines of his participation in the joint meeting of foreign and defense ministers and ministers of security councils of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which was held in Dushanbe today, Wednesday.
Lavrov pointed out that the issue of illegal immigration emerged strongly after NATO bombed Libya and destroyed the Libyan state.
"Illegal migrants began to flow to the north through devastated Libya, and when the European Union realized that this burden was beyond its ability to bear, it began urging everyone to share the burden of responsibility for the fate of these migrants," he said.
He continued, "We do not intend to share the burden of responsibility for behavior that we not only supported, but also expressed our condemnation of."
