Addressing Chad's debts ... within the framework of the Group of Twenty joint action

All of Chad's creditors in the G20 and the Paris Club formed a creditors' committee, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, to discuss Chad's request to deal with its debt, and its first meeting was held virtually on April 15, 2021.
During the meeting, representatives of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank presented their projections on the macroeconomic and debt vulnerabilities that Chad faces.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, China, France and India affirmed their commitment to implementing the joint framework in a coordinated manner to respond to the request of the country of Chad, and in accordance with the national laws and regulations of each country.
Creditors have stressed the importance of Chad's private sector creditors and other official bilateral creditors to provide Chad debt treatment under the joint framework, in order to ensure the principle of reciprocity as stipulated in the joint framework approved by the Group of Twenty under the Kingdom's presidency.
