Supreme Court: Monday Marks Beginning of Dhu Al-Hijjah, Arafat on May 26

Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced that Monday, May 18, 2026, corresponding to 1 Dhu Al-Hijjah 1447H, will mark the beginning of the month of Dhu Al-Hijjah, following the confirmed sighting of the الهلال this evening.

The court confirmed in its statement that the Day of Arafat will fall on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, corresponding to 9 Dhu Al-Hijjah 1447H, while Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Presentation

The Crescent Sighting Committee of the Supreme Court stated that it convened this evening to review reports related to the sighting of the Dhu Al-Hijjah crescent moon.

After examining the testimonies received and confirming the legitimate sighting by several accredited witnesses, the committee officially declared Monday as the first day of Dhu Al-Hijjah.

The statement also included prayers for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, in recognition of the services provided to the Guests of Allah, along with prayers for pilgrims to be granted ease, safety, and acceptance of their حج.
