Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has launched an international logistics corridor via freight trains, linking Eastern Region ports to Al-Haditha border crossing, in a move that enhances direct connectivity with Jordan and northern destinations, and supports regional trade through a high-efficiency land route.

The corridor connects:

  • King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam
  • King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail
  • Jubail Commercial Port
to Al-Haditha crossing, within an integrated transport system that supports the flow of goods between ports and regional markets.

Direct Connectivity… Higher Efficiency

SAR stated that the service enables container transport from Eastern Region ports to Al-Haditha, reaching Jordan and northern destinations, in addition to reverse movement along the same route, enhancing cargo flexibility and supply chain integration.

The route features:

  • Reducing travel time for a journey exceeding 1,700 km by half
  • A capacity exceeding 400 standard containers per train

Direct Logistics Impact

The project contributes to:

  • Shortening transport time
  • Reducing reliance on trucks and removing thousands of road trips
  • Improving road safety
  • Lowering carbon emissions

Within Vision 2030

This step aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, aiming to enhance integration between transport modes and improve logistics efficiency across the Kingdom.

Integrated Network

SAR operates a railway network exceeding 5,500 km, providing passenger, freight, and mineral transport services. In 2025, it transported more than 14 million passengers and over 30 million tons of minerals and goods.
