Saudi Ports Enhance Flexibility
Riyadh | BETH – 03 Shawwal 1447H corresponding to March 22, 2026
The Saudi Ports Authority has strengthened the flexibility of the logistics sector by adding five new maritime shipping services since the onset of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, in a step aimed at ensuring the continuity of supply chains and the flow of goods.
The new services were launched in partnership with major global shipping companies, including MSC, CMA CGM, Maersk, and Hapag-Lloyd, reflecting the readiness and operational efficiency of Saudi ports in dealing with regional developments.
The services include:
GULF SHUTTLE – REDEX – JADE – AE19 – SE4,
operated through multiple maritime routes linking the Kingdom’s ports with a number of regional and international destinations, contributing to expanding maritime connectivity and enhancing logistics efficiency.
The total handling capacity of these services reached approximately 63,594 TEUs, strengthening the operational capacity of Saudi ports, providing more flexible shipping options for exporters and importers, and supporting the smooth flow of trade.
This step aims to reduce the impact of challenges facing vital maritime corridors, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to enhancing maritime connectivity عبر the Red Sea and improving supply chain efficiency.
It also contributes to supporting the integration of Saudi ports and increasing their capacity, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub.
BETH Analysis:
This move reflects the Kingdom’s shift from crisis management to proactive strategy, through diversifying routes and strengthening reliance on its ports as a reliable alternative hub amid regional tensions.
At a time when attention is focused on the Strait of Hormuz as a source of concern, Saudi ports emerge as part of the solution… not part of the challenge.
