The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque is preparing to receive the increasing numbers of worshippers, Umrah performers, and visitors during the last ten days of Ramadan through an integrated operational system built on four main pillars: operational services, maintenance, crowd management, and enrichment services, reflecting the Authority’s continued commitment to providing high-quality services to the Guests of Allah at the Two Holy Mosques.

Expanded Operational System

The Authority has intensified its operational efforts by caring for carpets through cleaning and perfuming, preparing additional prayer areas, and enhancing cleaning, sanitization, disinfection, fumigation, and fragrance services across corridors and courtyards, in addition to ensuring the continuous availability of Zamzam water.

The Authority has also developed a new system for directing visitors to restroom facilities by utilizing Internet of Things technologies based on real-time data. Smart screens installed at entrances display crowd density using color indicators to guide visitors toward less crowded locations, helping ease movement and reduce waiting times.

Maintenance Readiness

In the maintenance sector, the Authority has increased the reliability of electricity and energy systems, enhanced the efficiency of air-conditioning, lighting, and sound systems, and ensured the readiness of elevators and escalators.

It has also raised the preparedness of safety and emergency systems to guarantee the continuity of services according to the highest standards of reliability and safety within the Two Holy Mosques.

Crowd Movement Management

The Authority has intensified efforts to organize movement within the Grand Mosque, the Prophet’s Mosque, and their courtyards by activating pathways and corridors to ensure smoother mobility.

It has also deployed interactive 3D maps, activated the “Where Are We” location cards using QR codes to help visitors identify their locations, and deployed mobile teams equipped with instant translation devices to assist visitors from different nationalities.

The efforts also include launching Guest Care Centers to provide guidance and support services, helping visitors reach their destinations with ease and reassurance.

Enriching the Spiritual Experience

To enrich the experience of worshippers and those observing i’tikaf, the Authority has increased the availability of Qur’ans, including Braille copies, and activated the Digital Prayer Area Guide across all prayer spaces.

Services for i’tikaf have also been enhanced through a package of logistical services, medical support, and awareness programs, ensuring that worshippers can perform their rituals in a safe, organized, and spiritually serene environment.

BETH Insight

These measures reflect the continuous evolution in crowd management and services within the Two Holy Mosques, where modern technologies and smart systems have become an essential part of operational management, balancing the massive capacity of the holy sites while preserving the spiritual serenity of the worship experience.
