The increase in the number of Saudi women working in the industrial cities
The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has revealed that the number of Saudi women working in the industrial cities that it supervises has increased by approximately 120% to 17,000 by the end of the first quarter of 2020.
The Director General of the Authority, Eng. Khaled Al Salem, confirmed that MODON has come a long way and is still working towards empowering women in the industrial sector, as it intends to hold a virtual conference under the title “Women of Industry 2020” under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef. During the period from 22 - 21 December 2020.
He explained that the strategy to empower industry and contribute to increasing local content aims to activate the role of women in industrial development in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030 aiming to enhance their role in the national economy, as Modon has succeeded in raising the number of Saudi women in industrial cities by approximately 120% to 17,000 employees by the end of the first quarter. From 2020, up from 7,860 employees by the end of 2018.
The director general of the authority said: “Modon continues to empower women in the industrial sector, whether as workers or investors by creating an exemplary environment in partnership with the public and private sectors,” indicating that the middle sector, which includes 12 industrial cities, has embraced approximately 11,750 female employees. 3500 female employees in the western sector, which includes 13 industrial cities, and 1750 female employees in the eastern sector, which includes 10 industrial cities.
