The World Series returns in its second edition this year with a new station, Thailand, where the first championship of the Saudi Aramco Teams Series, presented by the Public Investment Fund, will be held from 12 to 14 May 2022 AD at the Country Club Stadium in Bangkok, with a total prize pool of one million US dollars.
The series debuted on the Women's European Tour calendar last year, offering 4 tournaments with a total prize money of $4 million at $1 million per tournament, and saw the world's elite female golfers compete on both teams and individual levels.
It had started from London in the United Kingdom, through Sotogrande in southern Spain, and from there to New York in the United States of America, and concluded on the Red Sea coast in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The unique tournament system allowed 30 of the world's elite female golfers to select team members in a manner similar to that used in the NFL, where each captain chose the second player before the third player was randomly selected, adding a local amateur member to complete the team members. .
The Saudi Aramco Team Championships dazzled the golf community worldwide, by showing the fun and entertainment side of the sport during the competitions, as the teams enter the field to the tunes of a musical link chosen by the team members, with their willingness to start from the opening hole, in addition to the competitive aspect. Which allows the amateur player to play a pivotal and important role in improving the team's result and helping her female colleagues to obtain the largest possible number of points that are added to their balance to obtain the title of Costa del Sol Player of the Year at the end of the year, and affect the Rolex Women's Professional Ranking.
Last year, the first edition of the Saudi Aramco Team Championships was held, which became the first unique event of its kind in the professional golf world that combines the team and individual aspects. There will be an update in the tournament system in this year’s edition, as the team competitions will be held over two days, during which the winning team will be crowned, and the prize allocated to the teams is $500,000, while the best individual results and the finalists compete on the third day to determine the winning players. Individuals with a total prize pool of $500,000.
This week will witness the participation of the Thai trio, Patti Tavatanakit, and former world number one and 14 currently, Arya Jotanugarn, along with her sister, Moria Jotanugarn, and the 18-year-old promising star, Chanoknan Angorasarani, who topped the competitions of the Trust Golf Championship. Asian women's side at Siam Country Club and Stadium, in addition to their compatriot "Chonlada Chattanon".
In addition to these names, some of the world's brightest names will participate in the European Women's Tour, including English Charlie Hall and American Kelly Wally.
