GCC: start of the project to connect the Gulf countries by rail

In 2009, the GCC countries announced during the 30th summit the "railway" project connecting the GCC countries, later known as the "Gulf train", which announced an estimated cost of more than 15 billion dollars, and despite the stumbling faced by the project over the past years, but it is expected to start its operation, based on the interest and keenness of the leaders of the GCC countries, the decision came to establish a railway project connecting the GCC countries to each other because of its direct positive effects on facilitating trade movement between the GCC countries, freedom of movement for citizens and residents, in addition to supporting joint investments between the GCC countries GCC countries to contribute to the activation of trade exchange and the economy At their session (30) (2009), they decided to move the project to the stage of preparing detailed engineering designs for the project and studying the establishment of a GCC railway authority to oversee the implementation of the project in an integrated manner and coordination among the GCC countries in this regard.the ministers of transport and communications of the GCC countries were tasked to intensify work to complete this project as soon as possible and with the best specifications globally.
