Trump: Putin is a genius

During the past hours, former US President Donald Trump raised a wave of comments, after entering the line of conflict between Russia and the West against the backdrop of recognizing the independence of the separatist regions of Lugansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, and sending Russian forces there.

Trump described Russian President Vladimir Putin's move as a "genius" act. When asked during an interview with a radio yesterday what he thought of Putin's recognition of the independence of Donetsk and Lugansk, he replied, "This is a genius work."

He also described his tactics as "smart," without commenting further, adding in a sarcastic way that the United States could implement such tactics at its border with Mexico.

But he returned and considered that this crisis would never have occurred under his Republican administration.

In a separate statement; Trump criticized Biden's handling of the crisis in Ukraine, recalling the strong relationship he had with Putin, and stressing that the Russian president would "never" act this way under his administration. "If the crisis was managed properly, there would be no reason for what is happening now," he said.

He added, "I know Vladimir Putin very well, and he would never have done under my administration what he is doing now, it is impossible."

Trump considered that the sanctions imposed by the Biden administration are weak, considering them "not important compared to the seizure of a country and lands with strategic locations."

Also, he said, "Putin not only got what he always wanted, but he got richer from high oil and gas prices."
