Riyadh - The Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority announced today the launch of the “Digmatization of Books” project, which is an electronic platform to receive requests from Saudi publishing houses and authors wishing to self-publish to convert their publications into digital books in legal formats suitable for use on reading devices and compatible with international platforms, according to the Saudi Press Agency. It is expected that the 5-year initiative will contribute to diversifying the publishing vessels, which will lead to an increase in the spread of the Arabic book and its reach to the largest possible segment of readers, including those with visual disabilities and difficulty reading.

The initiative comes in the context of the efforts of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority to develop the publishing sector and transform it into a productive industry, locally and regionally influential, and reaching the global market through all available outlets, foremost of which is digital publishing.
