Saudi reserve assets abroad : 1.68 trillion riyals

Saudi reserve assets abroad by the end of the third quarter of this year amounted to about 1.68 trillion riyals, compared to 1.677 trillion riyals at the end of the previous quarter,  higher by 0.04 percent, equivalent to 639 million riyals.

The total reserve assets of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency "SAMA" include gold, special drawing rights, reserves with the International Monetary Fund, foreign exchange and deposits abroad, in addition to investments in securities abroad.

According to SAMA data, the increase in reserve assets came mainly from the item "Investments in securities abroad."

Total “investments in securities abroad” increased by 2.15 percent “22.13 billion riyals”, to reach 1.053 trillion riyals at the end of the third quarter, compared to 1.031 trillion riyals at the end of the second quarter, to acquire 62.8 percent of foreign reserve assets by the end of the period.
