NEOM hosts opening round of the second season of Extreme E racing

On the 19th and 20th of February, the city of NEOM will host the first round of the second season of the “Extreme E” global race for electric SUVs.

The global trip includes five tours around the world, aiming to highlight the impact of climate change and human interventions in remote locations distinguished by their picturesque nature, and to encourage the use of electric vehicles to support efforts to preserve the environment.

NEOM’s hosting of the first round of the second season of the race coincides with the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve global leadership in investing in sustainable technologies and harnessing them to protect its unique natural resources, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to reduce dependence on oil.

It also comes in line with NEOM's vision, which aims to build a sustainable ecosystem and employ sports in addition to other sectors to advance sustainability and diversity, and to be a global center for adventure sports, attracting global sporting events, which rely in particular on technology and innovation that enhance its approach to sustainability. environment and preserve the geographical advantages of the area.

On this occasion, Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Motorsports Federation and the Saudi Motorsports Company, said: “The new edition of the Extreme E races is a new proof of our position as the new home of motorsports in the region.
