Beirut - Marwa Shaheen - Beth:

According to private information obtained by a broadcast agency, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gibran Bassil, has made his decision regarding the electoral alliance with Hezbollah in the legislative elections scheduled to take place in May of this year.

According to the information, Gebran Bassil has informed Hezbollah of his decision regarding his intention to fight the electoral battle with it side by side, and that the alliance between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah will continue on the electoral and political levels.

It should be noted that the alliance between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah dates back to 2006, when the then leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, Michel Aoun, signed a memorandum of understanding with Hezbollah Secretary Hassan Nasrallah in St. Michael Church. Following this understanding, an alliance was established between them, This led to Aoun's support for Hezbollah in the 2006 war, and Hezbollah's adoption of Aoun's candidacy in the presidential elections, and thanks to this alliance, Aoun succeeded in reaching the presidency in 2016.

Recently, the relationship between the two allies has been shaken by some political differences between Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement, and there have been many reports of the possibility of dissolving the alliance between the two allies, for Gibran Bassil to return and confirm today that the alliance continues, and that the understanding of Mar Mikhael has not ended. After, then, the two allies continue to contest the elections together, which negates all the news that talked about the final end of the alliance between the current and Hezbollah.
