Saudi Arabia and Iraq sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of electrical interconnection
Today, Tuesday, Saudi Arabia and Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of electrical interconnection between the two countries, which will contribute to solving the electricity crisis in Iraq.
The document was signed by the Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, and from the Iraqi side, the Secretary of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, Hamid Al-Ghazi, and the Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar and the Iraqi Minister of Electricity in charge, Adel Karim, participated in the signing ceremony via video technology.
Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said that signing the memorandum of understanding comes as a directive for the leadership of the two countries to localize the foundations of strategic partnership in various fields, including in the field of energy.
For his part, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, confirmed that the electrical connection with Saudi Arabia will be completed within two years. He pointed out that "this project is the first step for cooperation, and this will be the first stage for a group of projects."
