Rohich Dhawan, CEO of the International Council on Mining and Minerals (ICMM), stressed that the global mining industry is currently going through a very important period, which can be described as the most important decade for the industry as the world seeks to shift from dependence on fossil fuels to rely on renewable energy. He explained that the message of the International Council of Mining and Minerals is represented in the concept of "mining by principles" to maximize the benefit of mining while minimizing harm to people and the environment, noting that the Council seeks to ensure the improvement of the lives of individuals working in the mining sector, and that operations are safe, fair, equitable and sustainable. better.
The members of the International Council of Mining and Minerals (ICMM) are 24 companies representing one third of the global mining industry, which gives the Council effective in indirect impact on most sectors.
Dhawan pointed out that the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa region is rich in mineral resources and suitable geography to become the center of the value chain for the minerals industry, as it is expected to play a vital role in meeting the rapid growth in global demand for important minerals needed in light of the world's orientation towards a low carbon society.
