A Palestinian girl whose family is facing eviction from an East Jerusalem neighborhood has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a Jewish settlement in front of her children, Israeli police said.

Moriah Cohen was treated in hospital with a moderate wound and was discharged later Wednesday.

The long-running tension in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood is mobilizing Palestinians, and last May fueled a wave of fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Israeli police said they had arrested a 14-year-old suspect at a school after the morning attack on the street outside the school. The police statement did not name the girl, but said that "a number of women close to her" had also been detained for questioning.
