Sebha court orders the return of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi to the electoral race
The Appeals Court of the Sebha Court ruled to return candidate Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi to the presidential race, after considering his appeal against the decision of the High Elections Commission to exclude him from the preliminary list of candidates.
Khaled al-Zaydi, Saif al-Islam al-Gaddafi’s lawyer, said in statements that the court ruled for acceptance as a form of his client’s appeal against the decision to exclude him from the elections, adding that it obligated the High Electoral Commission to include his name in the final lists of candidates. He added that the court’s decision is “a victory for justice and the will of the Libyan people.”
Following the court ruling in favor of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi and his decision to return him to the electoral race, the joy spread among his supporters who gathered since Thursday morning in front of the court, raising his pictures.
This comes after the hearing of the appeal submitted by Gaddafi’s son against the decision to exclude him from the presidential race after the completion of the judicial body.
Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi’s lawyer deposited the papers and documents necessary for his client, which prove the legality of his candidacy to the Appeals Committee meeting inside the court.
