UNESCO executive elects Princess Haifa Al Muqrin as chair of the Committee on Programs and External Relations
Paris - The Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO” elected the Kingdom’s permanent representative to UNESCO, HRH Princess Haifa bint Abdulaziz bin Muhammad bin Ayyaf Al Muqrin, as Chairperson of the Programs and External Relations Committee emanating from the Executive Council of the Organization for the period from 2021 to 2023, during The 213th session of the Executive Board, which was held today at the organization's headquarters in the French capital, Paris.
The Programs and External Relations Committee is one of the most important committees of the Organization's Executive Council. It is concerned with following up the activities and outputs of UNESCO's strategy reports, implementing the organization's programmes, international organizations' work reports, and implementing the decisions of the General Conference.
The Kingdom’s presidency of this committee confirms its active and pivotal role in UNESCO to support the decision-making process in a systematic and fair manner, ensuring the efficient and effective conduct of the organization’s work, thus achieving the sustainable development goals consistent with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
