Glasgow - The Kingdom's pavilion at the United Nations Climate Conference COP26 sheds light on the renewable energy and hydrogen production projects in the city of NEOM, during a lecture entitled "Designing a 100% Renewable Energy System from Nowhere - Marhaba NEOM", which was attended by a crowd of interested and visitors to the pavilion.

The lecture dealt with the pioneering and environmentally friendly technologies that will be used in the NEOM project, which aims to make the city the first destination in the world to rely entirely on renewable energy, and one of the most prominent sources of clean energy globally.

The NEOM project comes within the framework of the ambitious aspirations of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to transform the Kingdom into a leading global model, by focusing on localizing value chains in industries and technology, such as the projects that NEOM intends to establish to invest the mix of solar and wind energy, with the aim of making it a leading region in the world, based on on completely renewable energy.

During the lecture, she presented details of the project design stages, which included the generation and marketing of clean energy, achieving balance and integration with traditional systems, including setting prices and the value of the clean product, distribution and sales, in addition to developing and approving the regulations and laws regulating the field.

The lecture focused on explaining the hydrogen project, which is the largest of its kind in the world, and its importance lies in its consistency with NEOM's efforts to achieve leadership in the production of green hydrogen and green fuels globally, to be a focal point in NEOM's journey to become the most important destination globally in providing sustainable solutions in a way that attracts investors and better Minds from all countries of the world.

In the same context, the lecture touched upon NEOM's signing of an agreement with Air Products and ACWA Power, worth five billion dollars, to build a facility in NEOM to produce hydrogen in an environmentally friendly manner, and export it to the global market, in order to provide sustainable solutions to the global transport sector and to confront Climate change challenges through practical solutions to reduce carbon emissions.
