Saudi Agriculture.. Determining the conditions and controls for exporting vegetables grown in the Arab Shield region
RIYADH - The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has set the conditions and controls for the export of vegetable crops grown in open areas that depend on renewable water for irrigation in the Arab Shield region.
This came during a workshop organized by the "Ministry" under the title "Conditions and controls for exporting vegetable crops grown in open areas that depend for irrigation on renewable water". : Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, and Makkah Al Mukarramah, which are the areas where renewable water sources are available.
The Ministry stated that it will be allowed to export to farms located in the common areas between the Arabian Shield and the sedimentary shelf in the regions of Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Madinah, Tabuk, and Najran, so that the Ministry's Water Agency makes sure that it is located in the Arab Shield region, while it is not Allowing the export of agricultural products located in the areas of: Al Sharqiah, Al Jawf, and the Northern Borders; It is located in the sedimentary shelf area.
The "Ministry" indicated that it will approve - in accordance with the terms and conditions - the parties wishing to export within the permitted categories, namely farms registered in the Arab Shield areas, agricultural cooperative societies, and companies and institutions that have a record of agricultural products export activity, demanding at the same time the need to comply The party wishing to export purchases and contracts directly from the producing farms, which target modern water-saving techniques in irrigation, and not purchase from the markets for agricultural products for the purpose of export.
She stressed that in the event of a desire to export onion and potato products, the entity wishing to export, before starting to cultivate the product, submits a permit application to the concerned authority in the ministry, in which the location of the farm whose products will be exported, and the type of product, is also verified by the Ministry. The cultivated area, the type and quantity of the product, by the means available to it, provided that the export license is issued accordingly, in addition to the Ministry's issuance of seasonal export licenses for onion and potato products.
The Ministry stressed the need to pledge that the exported products conform to the quality specifications and requirements of the countries to which they are exported, with submitting a quarterly statement specifying the products that were exported, their quantity, their source, and the port of export, in addition to providing agricultural quarries at border ports with a list of authorities eligible for export, emphasizing the importance of using the “barcode” system to identify the exporting farm, so that it is placed on the product, specifying the name of the exporter, the quantity and type of product, and the date of export.
