Jubail Industrial City wins UNESCO award for best learning city in the world
Jubail - Jubail Industrial City has been awarded the 2021 UNESCO World Learning Cities Award for the best members who have demonstrated significant progress in promoting education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The award was received by the CEO of the Royal Commission in Jubail, Dr. Ahmed bin Zaid Al Hussein, following its announcement with the launch of the Fifth International Conference on Learning Cities held in Yunsu, Republic of South Korea, during the period from 27 to 30 October. In his speech, he stressed that Jubail Industrial City is an extension of the process Growth and prosperity at home, achieving sustainable development goals, and investing in people.
He pointed out that work in the Jubail Industrial City for learning included three areas: education for sustainable development, entrepreneurship, health and well-being in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, "a vibrant society, an ambitious homeland, a prosperous economy", and the human capacity development program.
Dr. Al-Hussein said that Jubail Industrial City is working hard to be a leader in the learning industry, to contribute to the transformation of the knowledge economy, and to empower entrepreneurs in a healthy environment that enjoys quality of life.
It is noteworthy that Jubail Industrial City joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities on September 21, 2020, to be the first global learning city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a year after its accession, its distinguished efforts culminated in this global achievement.
