The Kremlin announced today, Monday, that Russia and Saudi Arabia are discussing cooperation to stabilize oil markets.

During a press conference, the Russian presidential spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, explained that the “intensity” of telephone communications between President Vladimir Putin and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in recent times, is not caused by differences between Moscow and Riyadh.

In response to a question about why the two sides made two phone calls during the past week alone, and whether there were differences between the two countries over the “OPEC +” deal, Peskov said: “We are not talking about differences, but about joint work between the two countries, which are the two largest producers of oil. And the two countries whose joint steps would contribute to restoring stability in energy resource markets.
