Lubna Suleiman Al-Olayan is the first Saudi woman to chair a Saudi-Foreign Business Council

Beth: The Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce announced the approval of the General Authority for Foreign Trade on the final formation of the Saudi-Swedish Business Council in its session (1443-1447) by naming Mrs. Lubna Suleiman Al-Olayan as President of the Council and Head of the Executive Committee, and Muhammad Batterjee and Saud Al-Sulaiman as deputies.
The selection of the businesswoman “Lubna Suleiman Al-Olayan” as chairperson of the Saudi-Swedish Business Council is a precedent in the history of Saudi foreign business councils, as the first Saudi woman to hold this position since the issuance of the noble order to expedite the establishment of Saudi foreign business councils more than 20 years ago.
Al-Olayan is considered one of the well-known economic figures and competencies in the Kingdom and a model for Saudi women who were able to put a clear imprint in economic work, as she has an outstanding personality and high competencies that made her the first woman to be chosen to the board of directors of a Saudi company listed on the Saudi stock market, and she is also a member of many From the boards of directors, trustees and advisory boards of local and international companies, institutions and universities, she was chosen by Time magazine among the 100 most influential people, Fortune magazine among the most powerful women in the world for several years in a row, and Forbes magazine as one of the most powerful business leaders.
Lubna Suleiman Al-Olayan expressed her appreciation for the great confidence placed in her and her two deputies by the members of the Council by choosing them to take up these positions, and promised to make more effort to develop the work of the Council and activate its role in developing inter-economic relations between the two kingdoms by promoting joint work between the Saudi and Swedish business sectors and encouraging the establishment of commercial partnerships. And investment between the two sides and the definition of investment opportunities in both countries and work to overcome the obstacles faced by businessmen in their trade and investment relations and to attract the headquarters of Swedish companies to the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that the 36 Saudi foreign business councils work under the supervision and follow-up of the General Authority for Foreign Trade and under the umbrella of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce with the aim of developing economic relations between the Kingdom and friendly and brotherly countries and increasing the access of Saudi goods and products to foreign markets, in addition to encouraging foreign investment. The councils include in their membership a group of Saudi business owners with their counterparts from other countries, who form an economic grouping representing the various sectors of economic business.
