The Eastern Municipality continues to develop Al Marjan Island in Dammam within the tourism system in the region and is working on studying its proposal for investment

Beth: Al-Marjan Island, located in the eastern region in the middle of the waters of the Arabian Gulf, which is one of the artificial tourist islands in the city of Dammam, which was built in 1991 AD, is witnessing rapid steps in the process of continuous development of its facilities as one of the plans aimed at making it a distinctive face of the tourist and recreational destinations in Dammam.

It also comes as an extension of the efforts of the Eastern Province Municipality in developing waterfronts and corniches in partnership with the private sector and cooperation with various partner agencies from ministries and authorities, the Eastern Development Authority, and Al Marjan Island within those sites targeted for development, where work is underway to study its proposal for investment by the Investment and Development Agency Revenues in the Municipality, not exceeding 5% of the total area and 95% of the remaining area will be developed with services that serve the residents and visitors of the area.

Al Marjan Island is located on an area of ​​53,000 square meters, along the Dammam Corniche, which connects it through a link bridge on the side of a stone protection. In the middle of the island are green areas surrounded by palms and various trees, along with a number of flowers that adorn the site, and it is decorated with 25 concrete umbrellas. A canopy with an area of ​​2000 m2 with a distinctive architectural character, and these canopies embrace seating, and maintenance and renovation have recently started.

In the middle of the island is a 30-meter-high tower similar to the Islamic towers, and it was recently re-maintained and painted with an area of ​​2,000 square meters, as well as a marina for hiking boats, and a number of children’s games, which provide five children’s play groups and an athletics area, in addition to locations for serving food, and parking. Dedicated to cars with an area of ​​more than eight thousand square meters, the Marjan Island area is witnessing development, beautification and rehabilitation works for the corridors and the restoration of awnings and seating.

The secretariat seeks for the investor to undertake the development of the entire island with various facilities and activities such as games, cafes, restaurants, services, beach sessions and other services in support of entertainment, tourism and quality of life programs. The Municipality is moving at an accelerated pace towards developing facilities and waterfronts in partnership with all relevant authorities.
