British lawmakers call for the closure of Iran's embassies in Europe (video)
bethpress - The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) held an internet conference on Thursday, October 15th, on the terrorism of the Iranian regime and how it undermines global security.
The conference was attended by many prominent lawmakers from the United Kingdom.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President of the Iranian Republic elected by the Resistance, sent a message to the conference, which was read by Mrs. Dawlat Nowruzi, representative of the National Council of Iranian Resistance in Britain.
Maryam Rajavi said: The Iranian people today are facing destruction and crime by this regime from all sides. On the one hand, it is facing a terrible economic ordeal, and on the other hand, a large majority of the people suffer from hunger, and Iran has become one of the countries that suffer from the highest rate of inflation in the world.
And she confirmed, at the same time, the system suffers from instability.
On behalf of the Iranian Resistance, I called on members of European parliaments, especially in the British and Irish parliaments, to take the lead in a new policy initiative towards Iran.
Former European Parliament member, Citroen Stephenson, who was managing the conference at the beginning of his speech, said: In June 2018, the Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, was responsible for an attempted bombing against the Free Iran gathering of the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
The conspirators, including Asadullah Asadi, the regime's diplomat, are now on trial in Belgium. It is the first time that a regime diplomat has been directly involved in a terrorist attempt.
All Iranian embassies should be closed and its diplomats expelled.
Another speaker was Representative Toby Perkins, who said in his speech: The Iranian regime has historically used terrorist attacks and assassinations against dissidents abroad. This is the other side of the regime's internal repression. The UK should abandon its appeasement policy and support the opposition.
Rep. Bob Blackman said: We know the system is a very serious threat to all of our interests. He attacked our embassy in Tehran, launched cyberattacks, and now we have a diplomat found guilty of a terrorist plot.
We must end the policy of appeasement and the illusion that moderates will emerge from the theocratic dictatorship.
Mr. Alan Mill was another speaker who said: The regime continues to rule terror. Last November, the regime killed 1,500 demonstrators.
And he said, I call on all governments in the free world to do whatever is necessary to support the opposition, especially Ms. Rajavi.
As for former conservative European Parliament member Anthia MacIntyre, she said: Iranian women played an active role in the popular protests. They are a driving force for change in Iran. The government of the United Kingdom, other European countries and the European Union must take seriously the regime's human rights violations, and the regime's terror.
Representative Steve McCabe told the conference that Iran is the main sponsor of state terrorism. This is the problem we face.
This is a regime that is involved in the most brutal of politics.
They will interpret any appeasement from Western governments as a sign of weakness.
Lord David Alton of Liverpool confirmed at the NCRI conference: I am well aware of what the regime's terror means for the stability of the region.
It is time to hold the regime accountable for its terrorism.
Irish Senator Jerry Horkan said in his speech: Based on the experience of the past four decades, we know that appeasement with the regime was not effective.
Regime terrorism in the Middle East and other parts of the world has gotten worse. Not only did it work, it backfired.
The regime has been blackmailing the West by threatening to carry out terrorist attacks. European governments must wake up.
Our policy must go beyond rhetoric and condemnation.
Cultural centers and institutions funded by the mullahs should be closed. Financial transactions with the IRGC should be prohibited. Otherwise, the terror of the regime on our soil will escalate.
In turn, Representative Ian Mearns emphasized at the conference: The regime is a threat to the whole world with its intervention and support for terrorism.
It is time for the international community to recognize the struggle of the Iranian opposition and stand with the Iranian people.
Lord Kane Magenis asserted that: When we ask questions about the 1988 massacre of political prisoners, we get a bewildering look from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that says they do not recognize it.
This is very disturbing to those of us who know the truth of this horror.
Representative Roger Godseev addresses the conference of the National Council of Resistance of Iran: Terrorism is the means by which the regime survives and stays in power.
The horror of the system can be tracked all over the world.
If these plots were successful,
