Saudi Arabia confirmed its intention to develop the tourism industry.
The confirmation came in the Kingdom’s speech delivered by the third secretary of the Kingdom’s permanent delegation to the United Nations, Reem bint Fahad Al-Omair, during the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
She said that one of the most important points that enhance the Kingdom’s tourist attractions is the presence of historical landmarks and cultural heritage manifestations, which are characterized by a deep history and civilization, for example Mada’in Saleh in the Al-Ula region, where the stone in Al-Ula was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, while AlUla is home For a group of historical and archaeological sites and the capital of the Dadaan and Lehian kingdoms, in addition to the embrace of many of the kingdom’s vast regions, many sites that reflect the history and culture of the Saudi land.
She pointed to the construction of the city of Neom, which is one of the largest projects that will contribute to supporting the tourism sector and other sectors.
She said that the Kingdom has adopted a national strategy for tourism, in which it aims to raise the contribution of the tourism sector to the GDP to more than 10% by the year 2030 AD, provide the largest number of opportunities, and establish a tourist visa in September 2019, which allows citizens of 49 countries to obtain On the electronic level, the 49 countries include nearly 80% of the tourism spending capacity in the world, and include 75% of the global luxury tourist trips.
