Beth: The Eastern Province Municipality continues its programs to enhance traffic safety by establishing modern and smart pedestrian crossings, which keep pace with the latest techniques and methods of traffic control and engineering, taking into account pedestrian safety, in all cities and governorates of the Eastern Province, where the Municipality of Al Khobar Governorate has developed smart signals for the pedestrian crossing on Street Prince Turki, to promote the culture of safe walking, which comes within its plans to achieve the National Transformation Program and enhance quality of life standards in Al-Khobar.

The smart pedestrian signal, which was adopted on a city street, includes an aesthetically designed water spray gate, and an enhanced pedestrian alert within the designated crossing.

The Mayor of Al Khobar Governorate, Engineer Sultan bin Hamed Al Zaidi, said: "The municipality has followed up its work in achieving the objectives of the strategic plan axes of the Eastern Region Municipality through the implementation of smart pedestrian crossings on Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Street."

He added, "These crossings depend on traffic engineering standards and modern technologies to maintain the safety of pedestrians, and to create safe connectivity in vital sites in the city. The implementation was implemented by adding a gate at both ends of the crossing, by placing a water barrier to warn pedestrians not to cross when the pedestrian signal is red, and the water barrier stops After pressing the request to cross button, the pedestrian signal turns green, thus achieving an aesthetic view and promoting a culture of safe walking among residents and visitors to the city.
