Strategic contracts with Chinese, American, French, Russian and German companies.. Building an international conglomerate in the desalination industry for the benefit of Saudi Arabia and the world in the areas of using new and renewable energy

The Saline Water Conversion Corporation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has begun working on the development of a new technology for seawater desalination, in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources in the People’s Republic of China, represented by the Research Institute of Seawater Desalination and Multiple Uses.

The scope of cooperation includes developing projects using reverse osmosis technology and evaporation technology using a multi-stage effect method, in addition to projects related to future technologies, and standardizing desalination techniques.

This cooperation also contributes to strengthening the bonds of relations between the Kingdom and the People’s Republic of China, and pushes for more communication through diplomatic channels and economic sectors, and enhances constructive communication in the areas of water desalination, in order to serve the development of technologies and raise the efficiency of performance to double the achievements in the areas of reducing energy consumption and localizing modern technologies.

The package of joint projects in the field of desalination industry and technologies will bridge and reduce the global gap due to water shortage and the scarcity of its natural resources due to its high production cost, and its need for innovative, economic and environmentally friendly innovative capabilities and technology with higher production capacities that meet the increasing demand for water at the global level in conjunction with the growing population and the huge increase In the last years.

This Saudi-Chinese partnership comes as an extension of Desalination’s investment in its global leadership as the largest producer of desalinated water in the world and the least energy consuming in its production system by concluding multiple international partnerships with a number of sectors and relevant authorities in the major countries of the world, represented in America, France, Russia, Spain and Germany, targeting Through it, the risks and challenges of localizing advanced technologies are transformed into opportunities and competitive advantages to enhance the performance of the desalination industry and sustainability in the Kingdom and the world at large.

Cooperation with the American side also included the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the US Department of Energy covering a number of areas and projects related to (conventional and advanced) saline water desalination operations to reduce costs and raise efficiency, invest in new low-cost technologies and projects to localize the desalination industry in the Kingdom, and raise energy efficiency in operations. desalination, and investing in zero-saline reflux techniques.

The desalination entered into an agreement with Sandia Laboratories of the US Department of Energy in the fields of research and development of innovative reverse osmosis membranes, corrosion-resistant materials, analysis and monitoring technologies, and with Pacifica Water Solutions to develop reverse osmosis membranes and zero brine reflux technology, and to develop a prototype (Prototype) to develop Nano membranes, design and construction of a factory for the production of membranes for the institution inside Saudi Arabia, and the marketing of an advanced smart system to control desalination systems.

The understandings also included a memorandum of understanding with the American company Floyd Technology stipulating the use of (FTS) elements and their engineering designs in water analysis, and the production of a high-quality and high-concentration brine suitable for the chlor-alkali industry for the benefit of the Saudi markets and Aramco affiliates, in addition to a memorandum of understanding with the International Organization of Corrosion Engineers. (Nice), which aims to develop and exchange experiences to benefit from the organization’s educational and training programs, use the institution of its modern specifications and publications, benefit from corporate memberships, and obtain specialized publications and programs.

(Desalination) culminated in its cooperation with the French side by signing an agreement with the expert Eve to cooperate in the development of energy efficiency pumps and high pressure pumps, and the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding with the Russian company Orel Tech Burm on the development of water transfer technologies and the extraction of magnesium from brine.

It also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Ufa University of Petroleum Technology to benefit from its expertise in extracting valuable elements from salt reflux, the reliability of equipment and high pressure pumps, and the development of the training system in the field of pipelines and desalination equipment.

A contract was signed with the German side, represented by K-UTEC, to develop techniques for zero brine to produce brine of high quality and concentration. In the field of developing new unconventional technologies, an agreement was reached with the Spanish company TELAM to develop and evaluate an advanced desalination technology in the Kingdom.

These strategic partnerships make it possible to build an international conglomerate in the desalination industry for the benefit of Saudi Arabia and the world in the areas of using new and renewable energy and reducing the cost of producing a cubic meter of desalinated water produced from desalination systems, especially after the success of (desalination) in achieving record numbers in the areas of reducing The cost of producing the cubic meter in the projects to (1.2) riyals, and reducing energy consumption to less than (2.27) kilowatt-hours / m3 in the production systems that they manufacture and innovate by their national cadres, whether fixed or mobile, which has become the least energy consuming in the world by a number recorded Guinness World Records .
