An engineering team begins examining the site of The Line project in NEOM in preparation for the start of work

Beth: A consulting engineering team has begun examining the site of The Line project in NEOM, in preparation for the start of work; To construct the world's most ambitious project in sustainability, humanization and technology.

Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEOM, had launched the priest of January 2021 “The Line” city project in NEOM, the 170 km long city, which preserves 95% of the nature in NEOM lands, zero cars, zero streets, and zero carbon emissions.” It is a model for what urban societies can be in the future, and a blueprint for finding a balance to live with nature.

The Line will work to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in terms of economic diversification by providing 380,000 job opportunities, and contributing to adding 180 billion riyals (US$48 billion) to the GDP by 2030.

The presentation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chairman of the Board of Directors when the project was launched: “Throughout the ages, cities were built in order to protect humans in narrow spaces, and after the industrial revolution, cities were built to put the machine, the car, and the factory before man. Cities that claim to be the best in the world, where people spend years of their lives to move, and this period will double in 2050, and one billion people will be displaced due to high carbon emissions and rising sea levels.”

His Highness asked: “Why do we accept to sacrifice nature for the sake of development? And why do 7 million people die annually due to pollution? Why do we lose a million people annually due to traffic accidents? Why do we accept that years of a person’s life are wasted on commuting?”

His Highness continued: “We need to renew the concept of cities into future cities. Today, in my capacity as Chairman of the NEOM Board of Directors, I present to you “The Line”; A millionaire city with a length of 170 km, preserving 95% of nature in NEOM lands, zero cars, zero streets, and zero carbon emissions.”

The Line will redefine the concept of urban development by developing communities in which people are the main focus, for the first time in more than 150 years, which enhances the quality of life, and ensures access to all basic service facilities, including medical centers, schools, and public facilities. Entertainment, plus green spaces within a 5-minute walk, and high-speed transportation solutions will make commuting easier; The furthest journey in The Line is expected to take only 20 minutes, which will provide a living balanced between an innovation-incubating business environment and an exceptional quality of life for residents.

The “Line” communities will be managed by fully relying on artificial intelligence techniques to facilitate the process of communicating with humans in a way that enables them to anticipate and interact with unprecedented capabilities, saving the time of residents and companies.

Communities will be virtually interconnected, with about 90% of the data being harnessed to enhance infrastructure capabilities, while 1% of the data is harnessed in the current smart cities.

The Line city gives life on Earth a new meaning, and reflects an unparalleled approach to developing future cities in harmony with nature, as it will rely entirely on 100% clean energy, while ensuring a positive carbon future.

to build the economy of the future; NEOM cooperates with specialized leaders from around the world, to provide effective solutions to the challenges of urbanization that hinder the progress of humanity, and “The Line” will be an attractive environment for innovators, entrepreneurs and investors.

The design of the project is unique in the world and a model in the design of cognitive societies, as it restores human character to urban life, and enables living in harmony with nature in the twenty-first century and beyond.

The project is based on a smart infrastructure that is harmonious with the surrounding environment.

The "The Line" project will constitute a solid foundation for building a knowledge economy to incubate competencies, scientific minds, and skills from various fields to serve humanity.

Cognitive communities will be built on top of a backbone infrastructure, providing quick and easy mobility to The Line communities, as well as easy and quick access to nature.

All businesses and societies are coherently connected through a digital framework that includes artificial intelligence and robotics, which in turn creates a platform for collective intelligence that enables continuous learning and growth.
