The statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon (Charbel) removing him from his post
After he made insulting statements against the Gulf states and Saudi Arabia, the Lebanese Foreign Minister in the caretaker government, Charbel Wahba, applied to step down.
And the Lebanese Presidency announced in a statement that the President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, received this morning, Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and received from him a letter requesting to be exempt from his ministerial responsibilities.
After his meeting with Aoun, Wahba said, "In light of the recent developments that accompanied my speech, I met the president and submitted to him an exemption request from my duties and responsibilities as Minister of Foreign Affairs."
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the shameful insults contained in the Lebanese minister's statements against the Kingdom, its people, and the countries of the Cooperation Council. In a statement, she expressed her strong condemnation and denunciation of what was included in those statements, which are inconsistent with the simplest diplomatic norms and are not consistent with the historical relations between the two peoples.
She also confirmed that she had summoned the Lebanese ambassador to the Kingdom to express her rejection and denunciation of the abuses issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and an official protest note was handed over to him in this regard.
