Saudi Center for Opinion Polls: Saudi society reacts positively to the pandemic during the month of Ramadan

RIYADH - In the month of Ramadan, Saudi society reduced attendance at social events by 72%, as revealed by the results of a survey conducted by the Saudi Center for Opinion Polls on the behavior of society in the month of Ramadan compared to last month for this year 1442 AH-2021 AD, in addition to that, society reduced visits by relatives by 46 And from visits by friends by 54%, and in contrast, spending more time with the family increased by 49%.

The results also revealed that exercise in the month of Ramadan did not change from last month at 42%, while - in the month of Ramadan - community viewing of television increased by 38.7%, mobile use by 38.8%, and hours of entertainment increased by 52.1%.

As for marketing, purchases through applications and websites were not affected by their previous level of 48.4%, and it seems that the matter is due to the high prices. As 42% indicated that it increased in the month of Ramadan, and 68% said that intense commercial advertising during the month of Ramadan had no effect on their purchasing decisions. The other surprising result is the reluctance of the majority (79%) to eat in restaurants during the month of Ramadan, and this does not mean not buying, but rather not sitting in restaurants.

The other results revealed by the survey are that the hours of sleep increased in the month of Ramadan by only 25%, and the remaining percentage (75%) were similarly distributed among those whose sleep decreased (36%), or the number of their sleep hours did not change (39%). The result indicates that the majority of society did not change their lifestyle much in the month of Ramadan compared to before, and this is supported by the fact that 58% saw that their personal mood and emotions did not change in the month of Ramadan compared to the previous month. And 81% saw that their discipline at work did not change either, and 78.8% did not change the hours for their permission.

The Saudi Center for Opinion Polls is a non-profit body licensed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Ministry of Commerce. This poll was conducted on a small random sample of 1190 persons aged 18 years and over via mobile phone, representing 96% of the community in its thirteen administrative regions, and taking into account the percentage of representation The percentage of males and females documented by the General Authority for Statistics, and the margin of in-kind error was +/- 3%.
