Saudi Arabia's ambassador in Beirut: Lebanon's smuggled drugs are enough to flood the region
The Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Al-Bukhari, confirmed today, Sunday, that an attempt has been made to smuggle 600 million narcotic pills from Lebanon during the last 6 years.
He added that the quantity smuggled from Lebanon is sufficient to flood the Arab world with drugs and psychotropic substances.
He also made clear in press statements that the smuggling of these drugs does not target only Saudi Arabia, but all parts of the Arab world.
On Friday, Saudi Arabia announced that it would prevent the entry or transit of Lebanese vegetables and fruits from its territory, as of Sunday.
The General Directorate for Narcotics Control announced that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2.4 million narcotic amphetamine tablets from Lebanon hidden in a shipment of pomegranate fruit.
The official spokesman for the Directorate, Captain Muhammad Al-Najidi, stated at the time that the persons involved in Hafar Al-Batin governorate were arrested, including 5 accused / 4 citizens and a displaced person.
